This Friday I attended a Creative Commons Conference in Göteborg, Sweden. The purpose of the conference was to get several people from the Nordic countries to come together, learn about CC, and figure out a way to market it in our own areas. The conference provided a lot of insight and helped me to use a lot of what I’m learning in school… It also taught me that if you want something done right, you just might have to do it yourself.

Is having your own website conceited? Narcissistic? Or is it simply necessary for you, especially if you’re an artist, to market yourself and your projects? I believe the latter. I’m learning a lot about entrepreneurship and making your own living as an artist rather than depending on others to do it for you. I’m also using this knowledge to help push my own personal artistic endeavors, something I’ve learned from my husband (Binärpilot) and my father (Jet City Films)

My views on art education, and why they may differ from yours. I defend my case that, contrary to popular belief, arts education is real work, challenging, and a series of both successes and failures that can only be managed by those with a thick skin. Everyone has the right to follow their bliss, but no one has the right to judge those that are. I ask of you, readers, are you doing what makes you happy? If not, why aren’t you?
